In parallelogram RUNS, diagonals SU and RN intersects at O. If SO = 20 cm, RO = 16 cm, NO = x + y and UO = y + 7. Find the value of x and y.

In parallelogram RUNS, diagonals SU and RN intersects at O. If SO = 20 cm, RO = 16 cm, NO = x + y and UO = y + 7.

To find :-

Find the value of x and y.

Hence,

OS = OU

( The diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other )

=> 20 = y + 7

=> 20 - 7 = y

=> y = 13

Also,

OR = ON

16 = x + y

=> 16 = x + 13

=> 16 - 13 = x

=> x = 3

=> x = 3

Therefore ,

  • x = 3 cm
  • y = 13 cm
