In paramecium, the undigested food is egested from the cytoproct.

  • Cytoproct is also known as cell anus and is present behind the cytopharynx.
  • Paramecium follows the holozoic mode of nutrition and takes the help of cilium.
  • It takes in food from the oral groove that leads to the vestibule( a cavity).
  • The vestibule further leads to an opening( oval in shape) known as cytosome. This structure ends up in the cytopharynx.
