As almost all the alpha particles seemed to pass through the gold foil he observed that most of the region of the atom was empty . And after every 12000 particles seemed to get deflected by small angles and rebound . Thus he came to a conclusion that most of the positive charge and majority of mass of the atom is accommodated at the centre which we know as nucleus
