In physics, when an object travels at an angle, it is easier to break up the motion into a horizontal component and a vertical component. The principles of physics can then be applied to both directions. Suppose an object travels with a velocity (speed) of 25m/s at an angle of 40 degrees with the ground. Calculate the horizontal and vertical components of the object’s velocity.

Horizontal component is,
25 cos 40° = 25 × 0.766 = 19.15 m/s
The vertical component is,
25 sin 40° = 25 × 0.643 = 16.07 m/s
