In plants the water molecules move from their region of higher concentration (dilute solution) to their region of lower concentration (concentrated solution) through a semi permeable membrane..

In plants water molecules move through the plant cells by a process known as osmosis.

The movement of water in plants follows the following path:

Soil - Roots - stem - leaves

Water is lost through the leaves by transpiration.

Water moves through the plants when a negative gradient is created.

It therefore moves from a region of low negative gradient to a region of high negative gradient.

This happens when a negative gradient is created in the mesophyll.

The answer is therefore :

Low negative gradient to a higher negative gradient.
