In plastic bottle making operation, the cylinder actuator is widely used to push the plastic seed
into the extruder. As illustrated in Figure Q2, two double acting cylinders are used in the
production of plastic bottle and are performed according to the following sequence:
i) Plastic seed will be slowly pushed by a Cylinder A.
ii) After that, Cylinder B will quickly push the die and at the same time the Cylinder A will
retract.
iii) Cylinder B will hold the die for five (5) seconds.
iv) Then, Cylinder B will retract with controllable speed.
At this point where the cycle stops, the plastic bottle automatically falls from the die into a
container. To start the operation, the operator needs to activate two Push Buttons S1 and S2.
Design an electro-pneumatic circuit to comply the application.
Cylinder A - single solenoid valve
Cylinder B - double solenoid valve

Answer:
Two main processes are used to produce plastics - polymerisation and polycondensation - and they both require specific catalysts. In a polymerisation reactor, monomers such as ethylene and propylene are linked together to form long polymer chains.
