The shore has been called fatal because when Lord Ullin, chasing his fleeing daughter with her lover, reached the shore of the stormy loch, he saw a fearful sight. His daughter along with her lover and the boatman, were struggling for their life in the storm. Death was sure for them. The boat could drown any time. So, the shore of the stormy loch has been called fatal.
