Given : point D is on side BC such that BD=3 BC =5

To  find :  A(∆ABD)/A(∆ABC)

Solution:

Let draw  AM ⊥ BC

As D is a point on BC

Hence  AM  ⊥ BD  also

Area of Δ = (1/2) * Base * Height

Area of Δ ABC  = (1/2) * BC  * AM

Area of Δ ABD  = (1/2) * BD  * AM

Area of Δ ABD  / Area of Δ ABC    = ((1/2) * BD  * AM) / ( (1/2) * BC  * AM)

=> Area of Δ ABD  / Area of Δ ABC    =  BD/BC

=> Area of Δ ABD  / Area of Δ ABC    =  3/5

A(∆ABD)/A(∆ABC) = 3/5
