Given :  ∆PQR, m∠Q=90° . Seg QM is perpendicular to side PR.

PM =9, MR =25,

To find : QM

Solution:

∆PQR, m∠Q=90°

QM is perpendicular to side PR.

ΔPMQ  and ΔQMR

∠MPQ  =  ∠MQR  = 90° -  ∠R

∠PMQ = ∠QMR = 90°

=>  ΔPMQ ~ ΔQMR   (AA)

=> PM/QM  =   QM/MR

=> PM * MR = QM²

=> 9 * 25  = QM²

=> 3² * 5²  = QM²

=> 15²  = QM²

=> 15 = QM

Hence QM = 15
