QUESTION

:In PQR, PQ=4 cm, PR= 8 cm and RT=6 cm. Find (1) the area of APQR (ii) the length of QS.

To Find

(1) the area of ∆PQR

(2) the length of QS

Solution

Let the base of the triangle be PQ=4 cm,

then the height is RT=6 cm.

: Hence area of triangle

 \frac{1}{2} base \times height

 \frac{1}{2} \times 4 \times 6

= 12cm²

Now A = 12 cm²

Hence,

 \frac{1}{2} \times pr \times qs = 12

⟹ \frac{1}{2} \times 8 \times qs = 12

⟹QS=3 cm
