In projectiles,when we throw a ball into the air [angle is nearly 45 0 ]then at the center [velocity =0 m/s] then why the ball is not in the form of frely falling body?

at the midpoint vertical component of velocity(u sin45°) is zero but not the horizontal velocity (u cos45°) so body is in motion..
