In quadrilateral ABCD AB || DC and AD 1 AB. Also, AB = 8 m, DC
= BC =5 m. Find the area of the quadrilateral.​

we will divide the figure in two parts by drawing BC||ED so the figure is divided into 2 Parts one is square(EBCD) and other is triangle(AED)...

as we know area of sq. =side×side,=BC×BC,=5m×5m=25m² ....(I)

and we know area of triangle = height×base×1/2

[height will be 3m as we drew line ED it divided AB in 5m and 3m combining to make 8m as it was given]

=3m×5m×1/2,=15m²/2,=7.5m² .....(II)

From I and II,we can find area of ABCD by adding both as combining area of both will result in the whole ABCD quadrilateral that we started with:

25m²+7.5m²=32.5m²
