In quantum chemistry,

If n+l=4 , then how many total orbitals are there? How can the correct answer be 4?

the number of orbitals is n and l is the number of sub orbitals also the sub shell s=0 p=1 d=2 f=3 hence n+l =4 in a single orbital there is 3 sub shells and hence n+l =4
