Atithi - Stories By Rabindranath Tagore

Superfangirl_harshi09/17/16

This story begins where Chokher Bali ends, as Binodini looks out of the running train window, preparing herself to live a life of solitariness; the focus shifts to the singing group along with Tarapada who are in the same train. And from there, begins the story of Atithi.

Tarapada is a boy with great zeal to learn and explore the world who runs away from his home leaving his family in dispair.

He joined a troupe of acrobats and then wandered on. One day he caught a boat ride with a village zamindar. His natural virtuousness and spontaneity attracted the zamindar and his wife. He came to live with the zamindar and his family. His pleasant voice enchanted everyone, except their envious daughter Charusashi. She could not endure Tarapada. While he helped with the household and started taking lessons from zamindar, Charusashi threw tantrums and had no interest in work or studies.

Gradually Charusashi and Tara started to bond. Seeing their cute pair zamindar and his wife decided to marry their daughter off with Tara thinking no one else could handle her tantrums.

But Tara was an Atithi (a guest), who cannot be tied down.

Tara in his quest for world again runs away and joins theatre.

My POV- This 2 episodes long story is very engaging. Actors really bring out the innocence and authenticity of characters. This story will indulge you. While you can understand Tara's desire to explore the world, you cannot help but feel bad Charu and her family.

Music is light, close to classical and folk music like the song 'Mera Man Bhulaya Re'

Stories By Rabindranath Tagore - Episode #4 Promo - Atithi

The story is great, very well acted and directed.
