We know that In a ratio m : m the first term m is called antecedent and n is called consequent.

Given ratio is 7 : 8 = 7/8.

Here, antecedent is 7 and consequent is 8.

Given Consequent = 40.

Let the antecedent is 'x'.

⇒ 7/8 = x/40

⇒ 280 = 8x

⇒ x = 35.

Therefore, antecedent is 35.

Hope it helps!

here is your answer OK dude

Take an ratio

Antecedent is the first term of a ratio and consequent is the second term of ratio.

In the given ratio above

First term = 3 = Antecedent

Second term = 4 = consequent

In the question asked,

and its consequent is 40.

Let its antecedent be x.

 \frac{7}{?8}  =  \frac{x}{?40}
  > x = \frac{7}{?8} \times 40 = 35
Hence, the antecedent of given ratio is 35.

OK I hope I help you
