Recently the Type 2 diabetes mellitus that was once exclusive to adults of around 40 to 50 years, is now becoming increasingly common in the paediatrics too.

This has been linked with childhood obesity. Type 2 Diabetes is caused due to insulin resistance. Insulin resistance in kids has been difficult to describe, but it is related to the metabolic syndrome, obesity, hyperinsulinemia, hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia and hypertension.

This is the reason why there is an increased risk of Type 2 Diabetes before mid-puberty. Therefore, the correct answer is “A” 10-15 years.
