It's a very true statement... " in recent years the multipurpose project and dams have came under Great Scrutiny.. because:
1. Dams affect the natural flow of rivers.
2. Cause poor and excessive sedimentation on the banks and bed of water bodies, respectively, which further cause rockier bed stream and poorer habitats of the rivers aquatic life.
3. Dams also fragment rivers, making it difficult for aquatic life to migrate.
4. Moreover, dams also results in displacement of tribal people, and further cause protest , strikes or different movements like NARMADA BACHAO ANDOLAN.
5. Dams also submerge the vegetation found near banks.
Also it cause flood..
