The one way transport occurs due to suberin.

•Root endodermis has casparian strips which contains suberin. •Suberin is waxy substance and hence inert in nature. It is gas and water tight layer which restricts flow of water therefore acting as barrier.

•Water in plant roots flow through xylem and is absorbed into roots by unicellular root hairs.

•Xylem is a part of vascular tissue which contains xylem and phloem.
