1) Cotton in its raw state is not naturally strong. To make it into a strong yarn, it needs to be twisted or spun. It can then be woven into cotton cloth. Once the cotton has been spun, it can be woven into cloth.

2) Yarn can be made from fibre by the process called Spinning. From the mass of cotton, fibres are drawn and twisted which brings together the fibres to form a yarn. Takli and Charkha are the devices used for spinning.
