in act 1 ... scene 2... portia is lamentable beacuse she is bound by her fathers will.

she is not free to decide her own destiny as the wish/will of her dead father is still regnant.

in scene 2 we see that portia is consoled by nerrisa . when nerissa asks her to rate the princes ... that have come to marry Portia .... she speaks nothing good about them ,
but when she remembers about "Bassanio" who came to belmont in her father's time......she is pleased by this thought.

nevertheless .. her inability to marry him....without passing the barricade of the casket lottery , still saddens her.

if i were, in portia's place , then i would also have done the same ... that is to be patient .... because as told by nerrisa .. that Portia's father was a virtuos man... he would have surely advised and provided something wise for his only child..

this lottery advised by her father proves to be successful ... as we see in the later texts.

HOLE IT HELPS!!!!!.

PLEASE MARK AS BRAINLIEST.
