For any two figures to be similar , they must have the measure of their all angles same and the corresponding sides in the same ratio . Similar figures look alike .
For example : A decorative model of Taj mahal is similar to that of the monument Taj Mahal because the angles of them both are equal and their corresponding sides are in the same ratio.
Important points :
• All equilateral triangles are similar .
• All circles are similar .
• All congruent figures are similar but all similar figures are not congruent . This means that for any two figures to be similar , they need not to be of same area .
• The common ratio of the two figures is called scale factor .
