The order of alkyl halides towards SN1 mechanism follows the order”

☆Tertiary alkyl halide > secondary alkyl halide > primary alkyl halide.☆

This order is basically based on the stability of carbocations which are formed after the removal of halide ion.

To check the stability of carbocation, check the number of alpha hydrogens, more the number of alpha hydrogens, more will be the hyperconjugating strcutures and more will be the stability.

More is the stability of carbocation more will be the rate of SN1

Anonymous: But sis...stability is inversely propotional to reactivity..?
Anonymous: Then if tertiary is more stable it will be less reactive..right?
