Hey friend,

_____________________________________________________________

Neutrons are the neutral sub-atomic particles which are present in the nucleus.

Protons are the positively charged sub-atomic particles which are present in the nucleus.

Electrons are the negatively charged particles which revolve around the nucleus.

Z is the symbol of atomic number . Z is equal to the number of protons in the atom. It is also equal to the number of electrons in an neutral atom.

A is the symbol of atomic mass . A is equal to the sum of number of protons and neutrons.

Number of neutrons = A - Z

= 23 - 11

= 12
