You don’t need a driver’s license to buy alcohol, you need proper ID that shows your age to be over 21 - in the US. At least this is the law.

That some establishments (in the US) won’t accept vertical IDs is because vertical IDs often indicate that the holder is under 21. Some states have been using vertical IDs to make it easier for places that serve alcohol to see that the ID holder is not of legal age. Unfortunately, vertical IDs are also used to indicated that the holder doesn’t have a driver’s license and that the card is a n ID only.

If you have a passport, use that. Though, sometimes, people in the US particularly, have never seen a passport and don’t know what one looks like and might reject that as well.

The alcohol server, in the US, is responsible for not serving alcohol to a minor. The server can be fined, lose their license to serve, lose their job and could even go to jail for serving alcohol to an underage person. Their employer could lose their license to serve alcohol. Is it any wonder that the server will only accept an ID that looks correct?

I suspect that these idea may change as more and more young people don’t get driver’s licenses. For the time being, however, you may have to find a different acceptable ID if your particular establishment won’t serve you and you are, indeed, 21.

Any form of government issued photo identification (passports, state-issued ID cards, immigration cards, etc) are valid enough for the purchase of alcohol. Driving licenses are simply the most common form of photo identification carried by most people.

I find sprays very effective, but I am worried about their effect on us. Are they harmful?

Relax! If someone need to worry then it should be the pests in your house, not you! Godrej HIT the market leader of sprays which kill pests has its products approved for usage by the Indian government. Before our products get approved for usage, it is first thoroughly checked and tested for any ill-effects on humans. These quality checks are done at a global level. Hence, you need not worry about Kala and Lal HIT if you use it as instructed.
