in some places, water bottles were traditionally made from dried bottle gourds as follows:
- The gourd was dried, the seeds were removed and the inside was cleaned.
- Melted beeswax (wax of bees) was then poured into the gourd, shaken well and then
poured out again. A thin coating of beeswax was left on the inside of the gourd.
Once the beeswax coating hardened, the gourd could be used for storing water.
