Spermatogenesis is the process of maturation of sperms from primary spermatocyte by the process of meiosis. The primary spermatocytes (derived from the spermatogonia) periodically undergo meiosis to form secondary spermatocytes. The secondary spermatocytes undergo second meiosis to form four equal haploid spermatids.
