In spite of being close to the Arabian Sea, why does Rajasthan remain dry?
Answers
First of all, Rajasthan is not near the Arabian sea. It's about 700 plus kilometer far from the bank of the sea. Rajasthan has biggest desert area called *Thar Desert* and very hot. Due to desert area, trees are very less and natural water source are few. Greenary is main source to attract rain, which is not there, hence clouds passing through and not raining. One more reason is that Aravali hills are situated from southern to northern direction and clouds passing parallel the hills. Hence the smooth passing of clouds is most likely reason. If clouds struck on hills than possibility of raining is more but due to geographical situation, it's lacking. For the last few years, government has taken several steps to grow trees and save jungles from local coal mafia. Because of awareness and cooking gas availability at rural areas, now situation is improving. People of Rajasthan need to adopt one tree per home to save next generations from scarcity of natural source.
