We know that all sides of square are equal, all sides are perpendicular to each other.


Here, 

AC = Diagonal
AD = side

Now,
By Pythagoras Theorem,

AD
² + AD² = AC²

2AD
² = AC²

AD² = AC²/2

AD =  \sqrt{ \frac{AC^2}{2} }

AD =  \frac{AC}{ \sqrt{2} }






option C is correct
