In the story "The
tiger in the tunnel" we find that Baldeo is a very brave and dutiful man.
He was responsible for checking the railway line in the tunnel and had to see
to it that the light was burning at night so that the trains could pass safely
at night. Even though it was rumoured that there was a man eating tiger who
roamed in the area he stuck to his duty. One cold night he heard scary sounds.
But he went on duty and after lighting the lamp when he was attacked by the
tiger, he fought bravely with his axe and wounded the tiger.

Beldeo was the main character in the story who did farming in his small land, along with it he was also the watchman for the train. He used to go out for his duty in the forest and never missed to guide the train. This shows how brave and dutiful he is.
