The boy found out the scorpion by sliding a knife under loose plaster of the wall and gently levering it away from the wall.
Explanation:
- The world in the wall is a story written by Gerald Durrell. In this story a boy is fascinated by the life going on in the ancient wall near his house. He is seen to be observing the inhabitants of the wall among the moss and the fern growing on it.
- Out of all the inhabitants he is most fascinated with the scorpion living there. He say they are dangerous but very hard to find. In order to find them the boy slides a knife-blade carefully under the loose plaster and levers it gently away from the brick.
