Aurangzeb, Shah Jahan's son and the last ruler of the Mughal empire, did a poor job of ruling, and most of the common people did not have any respect for him. Some things that cause their disdain for him were his decisions to introduce the jizya tax (paid by non-Muslims), demolishing Hindu temples, and forbidding activities such as music, gambling, and alcohol. When he left, he had no heir and there was large civil wars which lead to loss of life and destruction of property. Other rulers took advantage of this chaos and invaded, which destroyed most of the military power. From then, the Mughal  administrative system was weakened and soon collapsed.
