For the following reasons hand-loom cloth production in India expanded steadily:

1. the producers of handicraft adopted a new technology, that helped to improve the production at almost the same costs.

2. Weavers by the second half of the Twentieth century began using machines with a fly shuttle. Around 35 per cent of the total hand-looms of India installed the fly shuttles by 1941.

3. The advent of new technology increased productivity per worker and thus led to a reduction in the demand for labor.
