In the above experiment the wire moves through the ice slab . however the ice slab does not break why?

this phenomenon is called regelation

when preasure is applied to the ice by the wire it melts but the temp remain same due to this the ice refreeze and ice do not break

In the above image you can find a wire that pass through the ice slab without breaking it.

This process is known as regelation.

If you create pressure by wire on an ice bar then the temperature of the ice bar remain sale and ice refreeze quickly with the same temperature.

That is the reason that the ice bar does not break by the wire.
