When a plant or animal dies it leave behind nutrient and energy in the organic material that change its body structure . The decomposers eventually converted all such organisms into co2 and nutrient . The nutrient becomes the part of the soil . If the decomposers absent on the earth , then the conversion of dead plant and animals will occur it ultimately become heap of dead bodies .
