Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

(2) 3

● Explaination -

# Given -

m1 = 1.4 g (2 significant figures)

m2 = 4.24 g (3 significant figures)

m3 = 7.432 g (4 significant figures)

# Solution -

Addition of three masses is calculated by -

M = m1 + m2 + m3

M = 1.4 + 4.24 + 7.432

M = 13.072 g

As a rule, answer can't be more accurate than least precise measurement.

M ~ 13.1 g

Here, no of significant figures is 3.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
