In the adjoining figure, AB = ACand BD = DC. Prove that ∆ADB ≅ ∆ADC.

its no formula, its a proof :)

given: AB=AC

BD=DC

prove: triangle ADB is congruent to triangle ADC

proof: considering triangle ABD and triangle ACD,

AB=AC (given)

BD=DC (given)

AD=AD (common)

so, by SAS similarly, we can conclude that triangle ADB is congruent to triangle ADC

HENCE PROVED!
