in the adjoining figure ABCD is a parallelogram DE perpendicular AB. if AB is equal to 20 cm AD equal to 13 cm and the area of the parallelogram is 100 cm square. calculate the AE.​

Que- In figure ABCD is a parallelogram DE is perpendicular to AB if AB equals to 20 cm AD equals to 13 cm and the area of the parallelogram is 200 cm² then calculate:

1. AE

2. EB

Area of parralelogram = base × height

Area of parralelogram ABCD = 20 × DE

100 = 20 × DE

DE = 5 cm

Applying pythagoras theorem in triangle ADE

Hypontenuse² = Base² + Perpendicular ²

13² = 5² + AE²

169 = 25 + AE²

AE² = 169 - 25 = 144

AE = √144 = 12 cm

EB = AB - AE = 20 - 12 = 8 cm
