(DE)^{2}=(AE)^{2}+(DA)^{2}

AE=6 cm

Now, areaof the shaded region is= area of rectangle ADCB-area of triangle ADE

A=l{\times}b-\frac{1}{2}{\times}base{\times}height

A=8{\times}18-\frac{1}{2}{\times}6{\times}8

A=144-24

A=120cm^2
