Given : AD ||  BC

To Find :   the area of trapezium ABCD

Solution:

CE = BC - BE

BE = AD = 6 cm

BC = 16 cm

=> CE = 16 - 6 = 10 cm

DE²  =  CD² - CE²

=> DE²  =  26² - 10²

=> DE²  =  (26 + 10)(26 - 10)

=>  DE²  =  (36)(16)

=>  DE²  =  ( 6²)(4²)

=> DE = 6*4

=> DE = 24 cm

Area of trapezium ABCD = (1/2) (AD + BC) DE

= (1/2)(6 + 16) * 24

= 22 * 12

= 264  cm²

Area of trapezium ABCD = 264  cm²
