Prove that ar(ABC) = 3 ar (ADC)​

Let common multiple be x

BD=2DC

BD/DC=2:1

BD=2x

DC=x

thus BC=3x

in triangle ABC and triangle ADC

A is common vertex and BC is common base

thus

ar.(ABC)/ar.(ADC)=BC/DC

=3x/x

ar.(ABC)/ar.(ADC)=3

ar(ABC)=3ar.(ADC)

hence proved
