first find the total area. then find the area enclosed by shaded region then subtract the enclosed area from the total area to get the area of shaded region....

area of out rectangle = 60x100 = 6000m²
area of inner rectangle = (60-4) x (100-4) = 5376 m²
area of path = 6000-5376= 624 m²
area of inner rectangle = (60-4) x (100-4) = 5376 m²
