In the adjoining figure, find the value of x. ​

Answer:

We know that ABD and ADC are both right angled triangles .

In ABD AB=13cm and BD=5cm

So AD^2=AB^2-BD^2

=13cm^2-5cm^2

=169cm^2-25cm^2

=144cm^2

thus AD=12cm.

Now in ADC, we know that AC^2=DC^2+AD^2

=>15cm^2=12cm^2+X^2

=>225cm^2=144cm^2+x^2

=>(225-144)cm^2=x^2

=>81cm^2=x^2

THEREFORE x= 9cm.
