Answer:

Value of y is 10°.

Step-by-step explanation:

To find : Value of y.

Solution :

Assume a angle "a". [See location in attachment]

We know,

Angles formed on opposite sides of two intersecting lines are equal. This statement is called Vertically opposite angles property.

So,

 \implies a = 8y [By vertically opposite angles property]

Now,

We also know that,

Sum of all angles formed on straight line is equal to 180° or we can say linear pair.

So,

 \implies 4y + a + 6y = 180°

  • Put a = 8y

 \implies 4y + 8y + 6y = 180°

 \implies 18y = 180°

 \implies y = 180°/18

 \implies y = 10°

Therefore,

Value of y is 10°.

Here Let us assume another angle as x

and it is opposite to 8y .

so, x = 8y

and,

⇒ 4y + x + 6y = 180

⇒ 4y + 8y + 6y = 180

⇒ 18y = 180

y = 10°
