friend ,the answer will be 1 as because something is not mentioned here.............the triangles might be similar or it may be a pararrellogram.

ab = cd (both are perpendicular)

therefore both triangles are congruent by RHS congruence criterion


area of triangle ABC/ area of triangle BDC = ab²/bc²                  (since : ratio of area of similar triangle is equal o the ratio of its corresponding sides)

⇒ ar(ΔABC)/ar(ΔBDC) = (1)²/(2)²

⇒ar(ΔABC)/ar(ΔBDC) = 1/4
