REQUIRED ANSWER:

  • Area of quadrilateral is 588cm².

‎ ‎ ‎

EXPLAINATION:

Here according to the given information diagram can be made as given in the attachment.

From the figure we can see that the quadrilateral is made up of 2 triangles whose base and altitudes are given. We can find the area of whole quadrilateral by finding the sum of areas of both triangles.

\rule{300}{2}

\bf{So\: let's\: start!}

GIVEN:

  • Height of triangle ADC=17.5cm
  • Height of triangle ABC=12cm
  • Common base of both triangles=48cm

‎ ‎ ‎

TO FIND:

  • Area of quadrilateral

‎ ‎ ‎

SOLUTION:

★ Area of triangle ADC=½×base×height

=> ½×48cm×17.5xm

=>420cm²

‎ ‎ ‎

\rule{300}{2}

★ Area of triangle ABC=½×base×height

=> ½×48cm×12cm

=> 168cm²

\rule{300}{2}

Area of quadrilateral will be sum of areas of both triangles.

‎ ‎ ‎

Area of ABCD=Ar.ABC+Ar.ADC

=> 420cm²+168cm²

=> 588cm²

Hence the required area is 588cm².
