Anil knew that Hari had tried to steal his money as the notes were wet from the previous night's rain. But he did not hand Hari over to the police as most other employers would have done. He was never one to grieve over the loss of money. Had Hari run away with the notes, Anil would have been sad for the loss of trust. But he knew that his trust had not been lost. Hari had put the money back. This showed he had had a change of heart and wanted to reform himself for the better. So Anil wanted to give Hari the chance to reform himself and thus did not hand him over to the police for the attempted theft.
