Explanation:

  • In the above circuit the upper 2 resistors are connected in series connection....so their resistance, R= 4+ 16 = 20 ohm.
  • similarly, the lower 2 resistors are also connected in series connection ,R'= 4+16=20 ohm
  • the upper resistors are connected to the lower 2 resistors in parallel connection....so 1/Rp= 1/20+1/20=2/20=1/10........so Rp= 10 ohm
  • now using the relation , V=IR , V= 2 × 10 = 20V
  • so the total voltage in the voltmeter is 20V , option 3
