Solution :-

Ratio of number of boys to girls = 8 : 5

Consider number of boys as 8x and number of girls as 5x

Number of girls = 160

⇒ 5x = 160

Transpose 5 to RHS

⇒ x = 160/5

⇒ x = 32

Number of boys = 8x = 8(32) = 256

Total number of students in college = Number of girls + Number of boys

= 160 + 256

= 416

Therefore the total number of students in college is 416.
