Mass of the metal = 5g
Mass of the meatl oxide = 9.44 gm
So mass of oxygen = 9.44 – 5
= 4.44 gm
Equivalent mass = mass of the element X 8/mass of oxygen
= 5 X 8/4.44
= 9
