Answer:
Artificial vegetative propagation is a method used for reproduction of plants that produce few seeds or nonviable seeds. There are various methods of artificial vegetative propagation like grafting, cutting, layering, micropropagation. Grafting is method of artificial propagation in which stem of one plant is attached to root of another plant. Cutting is a method of artificial propagation in which stem containing nodes and internodes are planted into the soil. In micropropagation, plant tissue culture is used to produce large number of progeny plants. In layering, stem is bent closed to soil and is covered with the soil. Out of all these methods, cutting is the most convenient and cheap method of artificial propagation.
The method of grafting is appropriate for Nepal.
Reason
- Grafting refers to the method of tissue culture or vegetative propagation where the root of a plant and the shoot of another plant are combined to make a superior quality and productive plant. Various plants are grown using this method. They are rose, mango, lemons, apples, and so on.
- Grafting is the easiest, cheapest, and faster method of tissue culture. Thus, it is employed in vegetative propagation in Nepal.
- Grafting does not require highly skilled workers. People with some knowledge of it can also do it without any difficulty.
- Thus, grafting has been employed in the vegetative propagation of Nepal.
